Remus and gifts

This is for a Secret Santa-ish challenge over at blacklupin.org (please visit and join!). The prompt was that a mystery character would pick your chosen character as the recipient of their Secret Santa gift. I got Remus and McGonagall.

The real title is 'Remus Lupin thinks this is carrying his prefect duties a bit far'. And did I mention it is AU?

It was Christmas morning, and Remus Lupin woke up early for once. Usually, he would open his eyes to the smell of hot chocolate and toast, and the sight of Sirius doing Merlin knew what now by the foot of the bed. But this time, Sirius lay huddled to his side mumbling something about murder and too early before drifting off to sleep again, and Remus sat up and started opening the presents. (He had the nagging suspicion that he would be receiving several things from girls he did not really know well. Presents that Sirius would have too much fun examining, like last year's. And now, Remus was forearmed against any such happening.)

He picked up one small box. There was no name on the card, but Remus recognised the handwriting as the same one he usually sees on the board during Transfiguration classes. On the card was written, ' Please do remember to keep your pet in check.'

Glad that there was no hot chocolate after all, or he would have either choked or spilled it all over Sirius, Remus opened the box.
